WELCOME FROM LAURA J. STEINBERG
I’m excited to share several engaging activities at the Institute in the coming weeks and months. This week, our public Spring 2024 Symposium Series titled Energy, Policy, and Climate Change: Perspectives from the Social Sciences wraps up with noon-time lectures and luncheon receptions on April 23 and April 25. The week concludes with a research symposium on Food and Nutrition, organized by Biology Assistant Professor Babak Momeni and open to all interested students, faculty, and staff.

Under the aegis of Institute Professor of Climate Science and Society Yi Ming, the Institute is hosting this year’s international CFMIP (Cloud Forcing Model Intercomparison Project) Conference at Boston College in early June. We’re looking forward to welcoming leading experts from across the world, who are creating the next generation of climate models. This summer will also mark the beginning of our fourth cohort of Schiller Institute seed grant recipients.
While I’m excited for what’s ahead, I’m also grateful for what we’ve accomplished this semester. Since our last issue, we’ve hosted the inaugural UN Conference of the Parties (COP) climate symposium, collaborated with the Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC) and Carroll School of Management (CSOM) on the second annual Eagles Sustainability Competition, and witnessed remarkable accomplishments from our Core faculty members. I invite you to read about these activities and more below.
